Trate demands of two actors: CNTE and SNTE, in the 2000 teacher movement in the State of Hidalgo

This work is part of a broader investigation, which analyzed the different stages of implementation of policies to professionalize teachers in the state of Hidalgo. This document presents the historical account of the teachers’ movement of June 2000, in which various demands from the CNTE and SNTE were expressed, who carried out strategies according to their interests, evidenced in the local press; for this reason, information was collected from the only local newspaper that existed in the state, El Sol de Hidalgo, at the time that said movement was carried out. The purpose was to analyze, from the perspective of the state policies of Oszlak and O’Donnell, the processes of participation and decision-making of the different educational actors. The findings indicate that the government mainly attends to the labor demands of the union groups, and they do not have improving education among their priorities.
